The massage therapist at Lauer Chiropractic offers a varity of massage modalities including:
- Swedish-Swedish massage is excellent for relaxation and stress reduction. It uses slow, fluid, rhythmic strokes with light to moderate pressure.
Deep Tissue-This modality addresses chronic pain, muscle pain and tightness. It helps to alleviate many other symptoms caused by muscle dysfunction. It also helps to increase range of motion and improve posture. Deep tissue uses moderate to heavy pressure and may stretching techniques.
Trigger Point-Trigger points are areas of chronic tightness that can refer pain to different areas of the body. Unlike lighter modalitites, this type of massage works with pain by using moderate to heavy compression to relieve trigger points.
Prenatal-A sidelying prenatal massage is excellent for relieveing the stress and chronic soreness and fatigue expectant mothers experience during pregnancy. Prenatal massage can perform right up to the delivery date.
- Sports Massage-A sports massage is performed directly before an event to warm up the body's muscles and allow the athlete to become calm and focused. It is also used after events to help the athlete cool down. This is excellent for preventing injury, fatigue and delayed onset muscle soreness. Sports maintenance is performed between events and is very similar to deep tissue massage.
Neuromusculoskeletal and Myofascial Release-Neuromusculoskeletal and Myofascial release techniques use both DIRECT AND INDIRECT methods interactively. They stretch and reflexively release joint related and soft tissue restriction. Soft tissue and joint movements are treated simultaneously.
