nullThe Doctors

Dr. Esther Lauer, RN, Ph.D, D.C.

Dr. Esther Lauer is the owner of the Lauer Chiropractic Center, and operates a satellite office in Creve Coeur, MO. Dr. Lauer has had more than 20 years of experience as a Nurse, Professor, Consultant, Chiropractor and a business owner.

Indeed, she has credentials that less than one percent of the population holds- a woman with two master's degrees and two doctoral degrees. We could call her Doctor Doctor, but just Doctor will do.....or just Esther.

One of her first chiropractic patients nicknamed her "the doctor with the nurse's touch." Her practice focuses on attention to individuals and their families. Medical history, work, lifestyle, nutrition, and exercise combine with the hands on therapeutic care that Dr. Lauer provides to each of her patients. Acupuncture is a vibrant part of her practice. Her motto is "We get sick people well and keep well people healthy. One of her goals is to help all of us achieve "wellness" in our lives.

On the way to that goal, she has been a surgical nurse, a director of nursing and a nursing instructor, holding some of these positions while going to school at night. She has been a consultant for the State of California and a professor at the University of California-San Francisco...Her graduate degrees come from The University of Pittsburgh, the University of California--San Francisco, Teachers College Columbia University in New York City, and Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, MO.

But Dr. Lauer is much more than just the doctor with the nurse's touch. She also gives generously of her time and expertise to the community. For example, in 1990, she became the first president of the Women Entrepreneur Alumnae Association, and held that office for 5 years. She has been the Vice President for Membership of the Women's Commerce Association, and a member of the programming committee of NAWBO, the National Association of Women Business Owners. She has served as a Board Member for the St. Louis Rotary and St. Charles Chamber of Commerce in St. Charles, MO. Currently she is an Ambassador for the Chamber. She is involved with Stephens Ministries for her Church. She is an Coordinator for the Group Study Exchange with the Rotary International. More recently she was an Adjunct Instructor at Barnes Jewish School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO teaching in the Master Degree Holistic Nursing Program.

Dr. Elizabeth Perez D.C.

Dr. Elizabeth Perez D.C. is happy to be a part of the Lauer Chiropractic team.  Dr. Perez was born and raised in the St. Louis/St. Charles area.  She always wanted to be a doctor growing up and she made it happen.  Dr. Perez attended St. Louis University where she studied for three years.  During those years at SLU Dr. Perez was dedicated to helping the music program grow and she was also a resident advisor.  After a car accident in her third year Dr. Perez was having neck pain that was not going away, conventional treatments were not working so she went to a Chiropractor.  She was introduced to a world of treatments that did not include drugs or surgery.  From that day Dr. Perez was interested in Chiropractic and the next semester she transferred to Logan College of Chiropractic.  There she recieved her BS in Human Biology and Doctor of Chiropractic degrees.

Dr. Perez focuses on children and families.  She also works intensively with her patients on muscle relaxation and balance.  However, the beauty of the many Chiropractic techniques she is equipped with Dr. Perez is able to treat patients aging from newborns to 80 and beyond.  The techniques Dr. Perez uses include but are not limited to:

Diversified:  A manual adjusting technique

Thompson Technique:  The "Segmental Drop System" in the Thompson Technique takes advantage of the spine's inherent design of the joints in order to move the spinal segment in the direction that will improve the motion of the segment with the one above and below. It just makes good sense that since the spinal joints face front to back and have an incline that slopes more naturally backwards that we can effect increased motion by applying an adjustment from P to A, (Posterior to Anterior) and with an inferior to superior line of correction.  This system uses a special table to allow the doctor to use less for for the adjustment.

Activator:  An instrument assisted adjustment, this technique allows a patient to be adjusted without the audible "pops and cracks" some do not like to hear.  The Activator adjusts joints of the body faster than the body is able to contract muscles.

Muscle Techniques:  Dr. Perez is happy to apply many muscle techniques to ensure that muscles can be relaxed over the treatment plan and to help balance the body.  Pain and stress contribute to muscle tension and imbalance and Dr. Perez's goal is to remove the stress and allow the body to work at it's maximum functional capability.  The muscle techniques Dr. Perez uses are Graston, Post isometric relaxation, ischemic compression, origin and insertion stretching and neuromuscular reeducation.
